Port Townsend, playing with fire and Aaron's talk

The last weekend of November I went up and visited Aaron Lundberg in Port Townsend, WA. For those of you who don't know where Port Townsend, WA is, it is the NE corner of Washington on the northernmost tip of the peninsula. The scenery is really nice up there. One of the best parts is driving up there from Portland. It is a really nice drive and if you get a chance you should.

My main reason was to be at the meeting when he gave his first talk since the School, which he did a stellar job at. But along the way I got a chance to tag along to drop a tree, we had a bonfire and a BBQ. We used firewood instead of charcoal to cook on... and after spending quite a bit of time trying to get a bed of coals out of wood, we just piled the wood up packed in this old grill and Aaron lit it with his weed burner. If you don't know what that is, see the 7th picture below. It's awesome.

the tree

... wait for it ...

Tree down!

This fire was awesome. you don't even want to know what we did to start it... and what we did to keep it burning hot... and what we burned in it... and then what we threw in it... and then what we melted in it... isn't fire the best?
